A Note From Jenanah…

I worked as a Chaplain with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision for over 20 years, teaching religion and life skills; preparing inmates for successful reentry into society.
I was also certified to train civilian staff in recognizing, evaluating, and controlling adverse behavior of the inmates (RECAB). I was working with what I called the “back door” in education. Controlling behavior is a key element in the ability to teach or impact students, and should be accomplished when they are young, or what I call “the front door.”
Teachers have a significant role in the trajectory of their students lives. If the student is taught how to channel their behavior in positive ways to achieve positive results, it could lead to a promising future.
